We are thrilled to bring you the 2023 Hartnell College Black and White Gala for the Arts. Help us stay bold in our stewardship for the arts, which are always a source of healing, inspiration and joy! Share our vision and commitment to investing in dynamic, responsive, and inspiring programs that empower youth, students, and community members to develop critical skills, sharpen creative inquiry, explore artistic expression, and work in collaboration, all while deepening empathy – for the self and others.
Guests will enjoy a fun evening of delicious food and beverages, a silent auction, and an inspiring program. For the second year, we will honor a distinguished alum in the arts, a community arts hero, The Western Stage distinguished honoree and the newly minted distinguished service to the arts. Gala guests will have the option to attend The Western Stage performance of It’s a Wonderful Life: Live Radio Show after the Gala.

It’s a Wonderful Life: Live Radio Show
George, Mary, Zuzu, and the entire town of Bedford Falls come to life on The Western Stage in this staged 1940s radio broadcast of Frank Capra’s holiday movie classic. With live sound effects and a handful of actors, the story of beleaguered building and loan owner George Bailey and his affable helper angel, Clarence, unfolds one fateful Christmas Eve as you’ve never seen it before. This captivating, life-affirming story is a holiday treat for the entire family!
The Western Stage
***Pardon our dust as The Western Stage is under construction. For your comfort, we suggest you bring an extra layer to stay cozy. The show must go on!***
The Western Stage is a professionally managed, community-based theater company that offers a robust variety of programs designed for personal growth and skill development. The theater addresses the need for a safe space where students and theater enthusiasts may engage in theater production while working side-by-side with theater professionals.
The Council for the Arts
Mission: With the conviction that the arts have the power to change lives, leaders from a variety of industries and interests come together on the Hartnell College Foundation Council for the Arts to provide material, financial, and community support, that enable the arts at Hartnell to thrive and students to move from instruction in the classroom to entry into the creative workforce.
